Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior/Principal PHP Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is a leading expert network that enables business and government professionals to connect with industry and subject-matter experts to answer critical research questions. Customers engage with these experts through phone consultations, in-person meetings at conferences, teleconferences, custom events, and workshops, as well as through surveys, polls, and web-based research offerings.
Experts are organized across six key industry sectors: healthcare; financial and business services; consumer goods and services; energy, industrials, and basic materials; technology, media, and telecom; and legal and regulatory.

Work Schedule:

• You should be available from 7:00 AM EST (2:00 PM UA / 1:00 PM CET) to 12:00 PM EST (7:00 PM UA / 6:00 PM CET), with flexibility until 1:00 PM EST (8:00 PM UA / 7:00 PM CET), to ensure overlap with the team.
• Outside of these hours, the schedule is flexible, provided advance notice of availability is given.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of professional experience developing web-based & CLI-based applications in PHP frameworks.
• Professional experience using open-source PHP (Symfony and its components and/or API Platform, or heavy design pattern PHP framework)
• Experience scaling in LAMP: Leveraging Redis, RabbitMQ, and SupervisorD
• Experience leveraging APMs such as DataDog to isolate performance bottlenecks
• Solid understanding of Git concepts such as branching, merging, pull requests, and conflict resolution, utilizing Bitbucket or Github
• Comfortable on Linux, command line, SSH, SFTP, SCP…
• Spoken English (minimum Upper intermediate+) is required, not only for daily standups but also for communicating with product owners and actively participating in discussions or presenting your work in an international team. Fluent English will be ideal.

Nice to have

• Experience designing fault tolerant architecture on cloud deployments
• Experienced in leveraging issue tracking systems and wikis for documentation(Jira/Confluence)
• Exposure to Azure/AWS/GCP PaaS
• Crafting architecture diagrams in Visio or LucidChart

Responsibilities

• Optimize and deliver new features on PHP8 based CRM application
• Help identify and remediate issues including refactoring complex SQL/Stored Procedures.
• Work with large database schemas that would include adding and updating tables and rows using MS SQL Server
• Write Unit tests and Documentation
• Work in an agile environment (2 week cadence) with internal Product Managers and Designers
• Coordinate with Business Operations staff, QA, Application Support, and DevOps teams to triage bugs
